Introducing Morgan's Monday Moments: Erik + Jillie Wedding
Welcome to Morgan’s Monday Moments!
Hey I’m Morgan! I’m SO excited to launch my new way to keep in touch with what’s happening in my photography world! As many of you know, the type of photography I do varies quite a bit, as it is really driven by the moment in time and the amazing client(s) I’m working with. My work = my art, and the way it comes out of the camera is often just as much of a mystery to me as it is to you! I will never know how it will look until the moment comes, the light shines, the energy flows.
So in order to tell my story to you, I’ll be blogging every Monday to tell you about the moments that have been captured recently, why they were so special, and stories about how they happened!
This week’s edition is dedicated to Erik & Jillie. It’s pretty rare that I photograph a wedding, but it is one of my favorite things to do -- the emotions are so surfaced, the love overtakes the energy of everything, and the setting is always gorgeous.
Erik & Jillie are the cutest couple. They live in LA so I actually didn’t meet them face to face until the day of, which was fine because we have so many mutual friends and had lots of phone calls and I knew we’d be a great fit.
Erik grew up in Oakland with a bunch of friends of mine, and there’s something about being born and raised here -- your community is ride or die and probably the funnest group of people you’ve ever met. Erik’s only concern with me was that I’d have more fun with them and lose sight of the photos, which I acknowledged would be tempting but reassured him I’m a pro! :)
As far as weddings go this day was completely seamless. Everyone was relaxed, happy, teary and joyful. Jillie was absolutely stunning… kind of took my breath away! Completely classic beauty, and Erik’s pride and emotion couldn’t be contained.
The ceremony was perfectly personal, spiritual, and lovely. Everyone stunned in the bridal parties and the succulent florals were to die for.
The reception was one big party, complete with photo booth, an open bar, and fireball shots! Erik & Jillie’s community really showed up for them, full of love and support and the party felt like a dressed up, elegant house party.
There’s something so special about the easiest of wedding days -- I think it shows how easy going, in love, and ready for anything the couple really is. Erik and Jillie took off for weeks in Europe along the Italian coast to celebrate each other a week after all was said and done, and I couldn’t have been happier for them. What an honor to work with two amazing people whose love brought so many amazing people together, and will continue to do so over the years. Sending all my love to you!
